J. D. Hall – Biography
Imam J. D. Hall,
the host and creator of the new KCAA radio program, “The Beauty of Islam,” embraced Islam in 1979. Since then,
Allah (SWT) has blessed him to serve, as a Mu’adhan (Caller to Prayer) at the Islamic Center of Southern California
and also as a co-host for more than 10 years, on the longest running, weekly, Islamic television program in American history,
the know defunct “The American Muslim Hour,” formerly entitled “Islam.” He has also been a speaker
on Islam at the Federal Prison in Victorville, CA. and currently gives Khutb (Sermons) at several Southern California and
Las Vegas area Masajid (Plural Of Masjid). Other Islamic activities include being a part of fundraising efforts for several
local Masajid and lending his voice to the English recitation of the Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik translation of The Qur’an,
currently available on the Internet. He has, by the permission of Allah, performed Hajj (Pilgrimage to Makkah) six times and
has prayed in all three of the Sacred Masajid. He also has a CD of Islamic songs entitled “Tawheed”, also available
on the Internet.
Professionally,
Imam J. D. is a semi-retired actor with over 30 years experience in the entertainment industry. He has served with distinction
on the Screen Actors Guild Board of Directors (1980-1983) and in 1983 he became the first African-American to run for the
Presidency of the Screen Actors Guild. He received a unprecedented 20% of the national vote.
